A QB domino falls: Browns trade for Tyrod Taylor

By Matthew Coller

The Cleveland Browns appeared to be in the mix for Kirk Cousins for about an hour. And then they traded for Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

On Friday, the Browns acquired receiver Jarvis Landry in a trade with the Miami Dolphins. With cap room galore and the No. 1 and No. 4 overall picks, it appeared reasonable that they could be an attractive destination for Cousins, the market’s biggest free agent quarterback.

Instead the Browns are out of the mix, acquiring Taylor for a third-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Browns strike again.

This time, Cleveland agrees to trade a mid-round draft pick to Buffalo for QB Tyrod Taylor, source tells ESPN.

Taylor now will throw to new Browns’ WR Jarvis Landry.

And Buffalo back in QB market.

Taylor was not a serious part of the Vikings’ quarterback conversation. Minnesota remains the most likely destination for Cousins. However, it does eliminate one potential fallback option if the Vikings do lose Cousins to another team in the running like the Jets, Broncos or Cardinals.
