Report: Vikings a ‘final four’ team bidding for Kirk Cousins

By Matthew Coller

The Minnesota Vikings will be in the mix for Kirk Cousins when free agency officially opens on March 14, but they will be bidding against three other teams for his services, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

With the entire league on hand in Indianapolis, the Vikings’ QB situation and Cousins’ potential landing spot have been two of the top storylines. Schefter, citing sources, reports that the Vikings will be bidding against the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos for his services.

The final four teams expected to be vying for free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins are the Broncos, Cardinals, Jets and Vikings, per league sources.

On Friday, Yahoo! Sports’ Charles Robinson said Cousins could be looking for a deal from three to four years with $30 million per year, with most of those dollars guaranteed.

Speaking with the Twin Cities media on Thursday, head coach Mike Zimmer said that one of his top priorities is to make sure the team’s nucleas can remain together. But the Vikings are in good shape with the cap, entering this year’s free agency period with around $60 million.
