Bleacher Report – Vikings

What is the price tag for Alex Smith?

By Matthew Coller

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith is in the conversation for the Minnesota Vikings’ 2018 starting QB.

Smith is on the trade block as the Chiefs look to move to young quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was selected in the first round last season.

The Vikings do not currently have a quarterback under contract, aside from Kyle Sloter. All three QBs with starting experience, Case Keenum, Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Bradford, are free agents.

That leaves the door open for a potential deal to acquire Smith.

What could that cost?

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero joined 1500ESPN on Monday from Radio Row. From conversations at the Senior Bowl, he figures the price tag to be a second-round pick and a future pick, somewhere in the range of a 2019 second or fourth.

. @TomPelissero says on @1500ESPN that he talked to people at the Senior Bowl about an Alex Smith trade and the price may be in the range of a second-round pick and another future pick.
