After a strong 2016 season at age 38, Terence Newman says he is not done playing in the NFL.
In an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, Newman announced that he would be signing a contract soon with a team that “absolutely has a chance to win.”
Whether the team he’s referring to is the Minnesota Vikings, we’ll find out soon. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said at the NFL Combine he had talked with Newman and felt the veteran cornerback was still interested in playing.
Last season, Newman played 72% of Vikings total snaps and gave up just 3.9 Yards Per Attempt in throws his direction, the second best in the NFL.
The Vikings could use Newman back in the mix after seeing nickel cornerback Captain Munnerlyn exit to sign with the Carolina Panthers.
