Instant analysis: Cardinals strike back against Vikings, 7-7

By Matthew Coller

The Minnesota Vikings are home at US Bank Stadium against the Arizona Cardinals. Follow quarter-by-quarter analysis throughout the game:

First quarter

– Trae Waynes in the game to start. Terence Newman did miss one practice this week with an illness.

– Matchup to watch today: Adam Thielen vs. Marcus Cooper. Thielen smoked Cooper on a comeback route.

– A penalty on tackle Jeremiah Sirles negates a touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph. Clearly hands to the face on Sirles. Some good news: Vikings finding running room up the middle, McKinnon looks like he has a little more burst.

– Looks like it’s gonna be an Adam Thielen game. Sam Bradford with a filthy throw to his back shoulder for a touchdown to put the Vikings up.

– Kai Forbath is 1-for-1 on extra points. Loudest cheer I’ve ever heard for an extra point.

– Veteran move by Carson Palmer on third down. Throws the ball at the feet of Larry Fitzgerald after he and Captain Munnerlyn get tripped up at the line of scrimmage. Flag flies in. Fitzgerald is going to be handled a lot by Munnerlyn, it appears, but also using zone coverage. The rush asn’t been much so far for Minnesota.

– And Cardinals on the board after moving pretty easily down the field. Vikings defense lacking the viciousness it had earlier this year.
