Jeff Davidson lands with the Chargers as offensive line coach

By Andrew Krammer

Two days after Mike Zimmer announced he wouldn’t be renewing Jeff Davidson’s contract as offensive line coach, both the Vikings and Davidson have their replacements.

Davidson, 48, has been hired by San Diego in the same capacity, rejoining Chargers head coach Mike McCoy. Davidson previously worked with McCoy for two seasons (2007-2008) with the Carolina Panthers. The Chargers, a franchise that could remain in San Diego or move to Los Angeles, will be Davidson’s sixth stop entering his 22nd season as a coach in the NFL. Davidson served five seasons coaching the Vikings’ offensive linemen, including two years with Zimmer and the current staff.

The Vikings officially named Tony Sparano as their new offensive line coach on Thursday.
