Linval Joseph and Sharrif Floyd held out of Friday’s practice, Peterson returns

By Andrew Krammer

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Vikings could again be shorthanded along the defensive line.

Nose tackle Linval Joseph left the field as practice began on Friday, meaning he’s been held out all week with a lingering foot injury that has forced him to miss three games since the Nov. 29 win in Atlanta. Joseph returned last week against the Giants, was forced to leave because of the bothersome foot, but quickly came back and finished with 31 snaps. The Vikings may just be exercising caution, but Joseph’s absence this week could make him a longshot to play Sunday in Green Bay. He’d be the first Viking this season to miss practice all week and play that weekend.

The Vikings will make official game-day injury designations this afternoon.

Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (knee) was also held out at the start of Friday’s practice. Floyd was limited in practices on Wednesday and Thursday after seeing just 28 snaps in last week’s win against the Giants.

They returned two team captains on Friday in running back Adrian Peterson (shoulder/ankle) and defensive end Everson Griffen (shoulder). Both were held out on Thursday.
