Griffen, Joseph and Peterson held out of Thursday’s practice

By Andrew Krammer

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Everson Griffen, Linval Joseph and Adrian Peterson did not practice for the Vikings on Thursday.

Griffen, who is dealing with a lingering shoulder injury, was held out despite practicing on a limited basis Wednesday. Joseph and Peterson have not practiced this week. Joseph played 31 snaps, with a brief exit, against the Giants to end a three-game absence due to a toe injury. He was limited in practice last week before playing, so his absence this week is noteworthy.

It’s assumed the Vikings are simply being cautious with Peterson as he recovers from a sprained ankle suffered two weeks ago against Chicago and a sore shoulder. He ran for 104 yards against the Giants to regain his NFL lead in rushing yards, and expects to contend for this third rushing title on Sunday in Lambeau Field.

Limited for the Vikings were safety Harrison Smith (hamstring) and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (knee).

Left tackle Matt Kalil (lower leg) was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday’s practice. Safety Anthony Harris (hip) and receiver Adam Thielen (back) were also designated with full participation.
