Bleacher Report – Vikings

Barr, Joseph and Smith practice again, Peterson held out

By Andrew Krammer

The Vikings once again had Linval Joseph, Anthony Barr and Harrison Smith at practice on Thursday.

All three were listed as limited participants for the second consecutive practice this week after being held out of the last two games. Defensive end Everson Griffen (shoulder) was also limited.

Coach Mike Zimmer told reporters Thursday he’d consider resting ‘iffy’ players if the Vikings have already clinched a playoff spot by the 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff on Sunday against the New York Giants. A Seattle win or Atlanta loss means the Vikings are in. Though if Green Bay defeats Arizona that afternoon, the Vikings would need to win Sunday in order to play for the NFC North title the following week at Lambeau Field.

Running back Adrian Peterson (ankle/shoulder) was held out of practice again Thursday, but said this week he’s ‘pretty confident’ he’ll play after returning to last week’s win with a sprained ankle. Tight end Rhett Ellison (ankle) was also held out again.

Cornerback Josh Robinson (concussion) returned to practice on a limited basis. Running back Jerick McKinnon (hamstring) was limited Thursday as a midweek addition to the injury report.

Receiver Charles Johnson (ankle) was a full participant again.
