EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — John Sullivan thought his season might be over.
Sullivan had been experiencing back pain since the second week of training camp, before the first of five preseason games on Aug. 9. Thinking it was a common case of a sore back, he played through the pain for two weeks of practices and a pair of exhibition games before relenting to sit out.
