The Vikings waived rookie offensive lineman Tyrus Thompson off injured reserve on Friday, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Thompson, 23, was a sixth-round pick (185th overall) by the Vikings in May out of Oklahoma. His offseason with the team peaked when he took first-team reps at right guard during organized team activities in June. Following mandatory minicamp that month, the Vikings moved swing tackle Mike Harris inside to guard, where he started the season opener on Monday in San Francisco.
