It’s assumed the Vikings defense will improve in the second season under Mike Zimmer. Returning players already know the system and can help newcomers learn, while the coaching staff has 16 games from which to evaluate current personnel and holes left to fill.
Stats from Zimmer’s previous long-term stops as defensive coordinator suggest the Vikings could go from knocking on the door of a top-10 defense to crashing through it.
There are plenty of strides to make after a handful of bad Sundays on defense, a below-average takeaway rate and a porous run defense last season….
