As the ball popped out of Dez Bryant’s hands on the one-yard-line Sunday, I was reminded of an old lawyer’s cliché.
“Bad facts make bad law.”
A particularly difficult set of facts results in an inequitable outcome under the law, and the powers that be then change the law to accommodate that one situation.
Such reactionary moves typically provide some level of short-term satisfaction for the masses, but they also typically lead to even more inequitable results down the road.
And such is the case today.
