MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — As the Minnesota Vikings move their home games outside for the next two seasons, the two specialists will be under the most pressure.
To prepare for the elements, kicker Blair Walsh and punter Jeff Locke have made several visits to TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus with more planned before the home opener. After enjoying the climate-controlled comfort of the Metrodome, this year will be trickier.
The challenge has been made more enjoyable by their friendship, which first formed when they were high-school prospects at a kicking camp. They spent more than one month training together in California this summer, too. So in a dome or in the snow, the young duo is bound to be kicking for the Vikings for years to come.
