Vikings: Season-Ticket Holders Filling Up TCF Bank Stadium

By Jeff Wald

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you want to take in a Minnesota Vikings game at TCF Bank Stadium next year and you’re not a season-ticket holder, they’re going to be hard to come by.

Vikings team officials said Friday they’ve currently slotted every seat at the stadium on the University of Minnesota campus for fans with season tickets. There is currently no room for single-game ticket sales.

The biggest reason: TCF Bank Stadium has a smaller capacity than the Metrodome, which seated about 64,000 people. TCF Bank Stadium can hold up to 52,000 people. Vikings officials said that 12,000 fewer seats makes a big difference for accommodating fans. The Vikings will play their home games at the U of M for the next two seasons while the new footballs stadium is under construction on the current Metrodome site.

Vikings officials said they’ll know more once they get a better sense of how many will renew their season tickets coming off a 5-10-1 season. Vikings officials said those who don’t renew their season tickets for TCF Bank Stadium but come back for the new stadium will have their seating priority for the 2016 season only impacted minimally.
