By jzulgad@1500espn.com

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Questions about the Tampa-2 defense appear to be the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard at Winter Park.

This observation came to mind last week as defensive end Everson Griffen was asked about the difference between the scheme the Vikings used the past eight years and what […]

Vikings took giant leap of faith with Griffen, with $19.5 million fully guaranteed

By Mike Florio

The Vikings know defensive end Everson Griffen better than any other team, and they knew him better than any of the free-agent pass rushers. The Vikings apparently believe in Griffen. In a major way. Despite a couple of off-field issues early in his career, a short-term move to linebacker in […]

Vikings will have money to spend today if they want to go shopping

By dwetmore@1500espn.com

Even after spending to retain Everson Griffen and Matt Cassel, the Vikings will have some money to spend. That’s thanks to the increasing salary cap across the NFL and big contracts, like Jared Allen’s, coming off the books.

The Vikings currently have $38.6 million in cap space, according to ESPN.com’s Ben […]

Cassel, Griffen Retained, But Vikes Have Work Left

By Katie Fraser

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings, like many other NFL teams over the last few days, have been busy working on contracts with their own free agents to keep from being outbid.

So what’s left when the market actually opens Tuesday?

Maybe not much activity at all. Or perhaps they’re not […]

Monson: Everson Griffen might have higher ceiling than Brian Robison

By dwetmore@1500espn.com

Many Vikings observers had their eyes on the quarterback situation as the NFL’s free agency season crept closer. Matt Cassel re-signed Friday, which answered that question before it officially was asked.

But by far the bigger deal, with longer term ramifications, was the decision to hand Everson Griffen a reported 5-year, $42.5 […]
