Report: Latavius Murray restructures contract to stay with Vikings

By Matthew Coller

The Minnesota Vikings insured that they will have a quality running back tandem in 2018. ESPN’s Courtney Cronin is reporting that Latavius Murray has restructured his contract.

The Vikings were likely to cut Murray if he did not re-work his deal, which carried a $6.3 million cap hit this year and a dead cap hit of only $1.2 million.

With several needs in free agency still, the Vikings have around $27 million in cap space (per OverTheCap) after signing Kirk Cousins.

Murray rushed for 842 yards and eight touchdowns in 2016. Top back Dalvin Cook will be returning from an ACL tear.

Running back Jerick McKinnon left in free agency to join the San Francisco 49ers.

Latavius Murray has restructured his contract with the Vikings ahead of Friday’s deadline where $5.15 million of his $6.35 million cap hit would have become guaranteed, sources told ESPN. https://t.co/7jDSJ8yHZe
