Report: Vikings willing to wait to talk to Eagles assistant about offensive coordinator job

By Judd Zulgad

The Vikings’ search for an offensive coordinator appears as if it could extend into mid-February.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted Tuesday morning that the Vikings would like to talk with Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo about the job but cannot do so until 10 days after Philadelphia’s season ends. The Eagles beat New England in the Super Bowl on Sunday, meaning that the Vikings can’t talk to DeFilippo until Feb. 14, a source told Schefter.

The Vikings, however, reportedly are willing to wait to have that conversation.

The Vikings reportedly already have talked to four candidates about the job. That list includes Saints assistant head coach/tight ends coach Dan Campbell; former Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell; Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Stefanski; and Texans quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan.

Pat Shurmur, who served as Vikings’ offensive coordinator in 2017, was hired as coach of the New York Giants after Minnesota lost to Philadelphia in the NFC title game.
