Instant analysis: Vikings-Lions knotted at 7 after one

By Matthew Coller

The Minnesota Vikings are on the road taking on the Detroit Lions.

First quarter takeaways

The Vikings’ touchdown drive may have been the ugliest TD drive in NFL history. It included a strip-sack that was overturned, then a pick-six that was flagged for pass interference. There was some good – the fact that Sam Bradford completed 6-of-7 and found Kyle Rudolph three times.

– Detroit’s first drive shows us that there’s no such thing as carrying over momentum from last week – or several days ago, in this case. The Vikings dominated the Arizona Cardinals in the second half, pressuring Carson Palmer on nearly every drop back. Well, that was not the case on the first drive for Detroit. Matthew Stafford’s quick release could be problematic, especially with Terence Newman injured.
