Xavier Rhodes grabs NFC defensive player of the week

By Derek Wetmore

Hold your hat for this one: Xavier Rhodes has been named the NFC’s defensive player of the week.

The Vikings’ standout corner had a gamechanger of an interception against Carson Palmer and the Cardinals on Sunday. Arizona was driving and Rhodes picked off a pass at the front of the end zone and ran it back for a touchdown to help spark the Vikings’ victory.

Check this out: Rhodes looked like he was shot out of a cannon on his return.

2 fastest max speeds by a ball carrier in Week 11 were both scored by @Vikings:

Rhodes also picked off another Palmer pass — the second one on an overthrow that Rhodes dove and caught to secure his second interception and the NFC DPOW award.

Rhodes has had some standout performances this year against top wide receivers, and his stats are incredible.

#Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes is best among qualifying CBs in passer rating into his coverage (32.7) @PFF. Spiking the ball on each play = 39.6

Rhodes joins Eric Kendricks and Everson Griffen as Minnesota defensive players to win the award this season.
