Zimmer Calls Out Offensive Line In Vikings First Loss

By Vikings – WCCO | CBS Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer was not happy with his squad, mainly his offensive line, in his team’s 21-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

It was Minnesota’s first loss of the season and came after the team’s bye week. The Vikings now have a full week to prepare to play the Chicago Bears on the road on Monday Night Football.

When asked to describe the loss in one word, Zimmer said, “Embarrassing.”

He also said the Vikings offensive line played “soft.”

“They got whipped. We didn’t block anybody. We were soft. We got overpowered,” Zimmer said.

The Vikings committed four turnovers in the game, three by the offense. Bradford was sacked six times, hit several others and hurried the entire afternoon. His first interception also came as a direct result of pressure by the Eagles.

Zimmer also said the answer for the offensive line won’t come from signing more players.

“We’re not going to go down the street and pick up a bunch of guys. We need to get those guys better and we need to do it quickly. I’m disappointed that we allowed that to happen,” Zimmer said.

Many members of the offensive line said the same after Sunday’s loss, saying they played poorly, the loss is on them and it can’t happen again.
