Zimmer: Jake Long could see action on Sunday

By Matthew Coller

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said recently-signed offensive lineman Jake Long could make his Vikings debut on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Zimmer was asked how Long has looked in practice and would only offer, “pretty good.” Continuing his detailed commentary, the Vikings head coach said, “yeah, he could” when questioned about whether Long understood the offense enough to potentially start.

The Vikings signed Long after they placed Andre Smith on injured reserve. He has battled injuries over the past few years, making stops in St. Louis and Atlanta after making the Pro Bowl three times as a Miami Dolphin.

There’s a good chance the Vikings will have their No. 1 wide receiver back in the lineup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Stefon Diggs practiced for the third straight day on Friday and Zimmer said he is questionable.

Diggs had a super start to the season with 25 receptions for 372 yards, but has been battling a groin injury. He was forced to miss Minnesota’s 31-13 win over the Houston Texans.
