Vikings defense putting up eye-popping stats

The Minnesota Vikings are 5-0 in part because of their dominating defense. But are they the NFL’s best? The numbers indicate that they are the runaway best through Week 5.

– Mike Zimmer’s defense has given up the fewest points in the NFL with only 12.6 allowed per game

– The Vikings are No. 1 in the NFL in Yards Per Play against at 4.4 per play

– They are No. 1 in the NFL in turnovers forced with 12 (tied with Arizona)

– Minnesota is second in interceptions with 7 (KC has 8)

– The Vikings have allowed the second lowest completion percentage against at 55.5% (Denver is first at 55.1%)

– They have given up the fourth lowest touchdown rate (2.0%) and have the sixth highest interception rate (3.5%)

– The Vikings have the lowest passer rating against in the NFL at 65.3%

– Minnesota’s defense is No. 1 in sacks (19, tied with Denver) and sack yards lost (145)

– They are sixth in rushing yards against per game, giving up 77.8 per contest
