Bleacher Report – Vikings

Despite Rash Of Injuries, Vikings Offense Continues To Improve

By Vikings – WCCO | CBS Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Teddy Bridgewater, Adrian Peterson, Matt Kalil, Andre Smith, Stefon Diggs, Brandon Fusco.

That’s your top quarterback, top running back, top receiver, left tackle, right tackle and right guard. That’s more starters hurt than healthy.

And what has the Vikings offense done, as those injuries have piled up? It’s gone from zero offensive points in Week 1, to now totaling their most offensive points of the season in back-to-back weeks.

Just let that sink in for a second. An offense that keeps losing starters every week keeps getting better every week. How do you explain that?

“Our offensive coaches do a good job. Bradford’s been getting the ball out quick, he’s done that all along since he’s been here. That helps,” head coach Mike Zimmer said. “We’re finding different guys to do different things.”

After the injuries to Bridgewater, Peterson and Kalil, the Vikings were largely left for dead. They used the doubt as motivation, and now they’re the only unbeaten left. It’s quite a different dynamic now, to go from the team nobody believed in to the team on top, but what Zimmer likes most is it hasn’t changed their approach.

“The thing that I like about this football team is they prepare, they study, they get ready to go play,” Zimmer said. “I think all of this is about just a singleness of the purpose at hand, really.”
