Patterson Showing Depth, Drive In Revival With Vikings

By Vikings – WCCO | CBS Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Cordarrelle Patterson was one of the many bright spots for the Vikings in Monday’s victory over the Giants.

Patterson is in the last year of his contract with the Vikings, but he’s looking motivated for big plays on the field, and that’s all coaches have ever asked of him.

Monday’s game may be the revival of a secret weapon with Patterson in the game plan.

“Patience is the key to success, and God works in mysterious ways,” Patterson said. “You never know what’s going to happen, so like I say, when your number’s called, just be ready for it.”

That’s not just as a kick returner and receiver — he’s become part of the special teams, even forcing a fumble Monday night and making his presence known on the field.

“Nobody should pout when your number’s called, just go make a play,” he said. “Anything I can do to help this team win, I’m going to go out there and do my best.”

Patterson has had to prove to coaching staff — and maybe his teammates — that he’s got an NFL attitude.

“He’s working hard — Cordarrelle is out there playing hard,” Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes said. “In practice he’s passionate about the game. You can see he wants to play, and there’s a lot Corrdarelle can offer for this team.”

And so begins a new chapter in Patterson’s journey — one that involves forgetting some of the old cringe-worthy plays of yesteryear.

“I don’t look at what happen back then. God gave you eyes on the front of your head so you can see where you’re going, not where you’ve been,” he said. “I’m just focused on this week. We’ve got Texas next week, and that’s how I’m going to go.”

Vikings will take on the 3-1 Houston Texans. Don’t miss the WCCO Pregame Show at 10:30 a.m. and watch kickoff at 12 p.m. on WCCO.
