Bleacher Report – Vikings

Former Vikings center John Sullivan signs with Washington

By Judd Zulgad

Former Vikings center John Sullivan has found work.

Nearly a month after being released by Minnesota, Sullivan signed with the Washington Redskins on Tuesday. Sullivan will replaced Kory Lichtensteiger, who was placed on injured reserve after suffering a calf injury in Washington’s 29-27 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday.

Sullivan, 31, a sixth-round pick of the Vikings in 2008, started 93 of 109 games he played in for Minnesota from 2008 through 2014. He missed last season after having two back surgeries.

Sullivan entered training camp this season competing with Joe Berger for the starting center job. Berger replaced Sullivan last season and was able to retain the job in camp, leading to Sullivan’s release.

The Washington Post reported that it is unknown how quickly Sullivan will be inserted into the starting lineup. Spencer Long finished last Sunday’s game at center for the Redskins.

The Vikings are scheduled to play the Redskins on Nov. 13 in Washington.
