Bleacher Report – Vikings

Xavier Rhodes and Sharrif Floyd out for Sunday, team says

By Derek Wetmore

Some good news and some bad news for the Vikings on the injury front this week.

The good news is that left tackle Matt Kalil was back at practice Friday, albeit in a limited role. He said out Wednesday and Thursday practice with a hip injury that’s been bugging him. The durable left tackle officially is listed as questionable for Sunday.

The bad news: top cornerback Xavier Rhodes and 3-technique defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd will miss Sunday’s contest against the Packers. Floyd (knee) didn’t practice all week. Rhodes (knee) missed Sunday’s season opener and also sat out this week of practice.

Rhodes had an MRI on Monday and Mike Zimmer said he won’t need surgery. His timeline to return is not yet known, but that probably means that Trae Waynes will get another start opposite Terence Newman.

MyCole Pruitt also did not practice Friday. Others listed on the report who have had injury issues this season — Jerick McKinnon, Eric Kendricks, Kyle Rudolph, Adrian Peterson and Charles Johnson — all practiced Friday and should be set to go Sunday.
