Friday practice notes: The QBs, Waynes progressing and Floyd out

By Matthew Coller

In his opening comments to the media on Friday, Mike Zimmer noted that he expected the crowd would be loud against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night and that it should be, “fun…well, not fun for me, but everybody else.”

– Zimmer has been playing who’s-the-quarterback all week and stuck with “you’ll find out on Sunday” despite multiple reports that Sam Bradford was taking first team reps on Wednesday and Thursday. The Vikings’ head coach did note that Bradford would be prepared if need be.

“Yeah he’s ready, he could start…Shaun could start too,” Zimmer said.

– Cornerback Trae Waynes will have quite a challenge facing Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. The Packers like to line up Jordy Nelson all over the field and presumably will look to get him against the second-year corner.

“Sometimes when guys come in, I don’t know if they really understand how hard it is to play that position,” Zimmer said. “Understanding the professional game and the rules of the professional game, I think that he’s come a long way with his confidence, his technique. He’s done a good job.”

– Sharrif Floyd continues to battle injury issues. He only took about half the snaps last week and will miss this Sunday’s game. You might imagine it’s frustrating to have a talented player always being a question mark because of his health.

“I’m kind of used to it,” Zimmer said.
“I don’t know what to call it, right now I’m just trying to get myself back together and get back to doing what I love to do,” Floyd said.
