Minnesota Orchestra To Play Halftime At Sunday’s Game

By Vikings – WCCO | CBS Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It may not be over ’til the fat lady sings, but you’ll know Sunday’s match between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers is half over when the orchestra plays.

For the Vikings’ very first regular season game at the U.S. Bank Stadium, the Minnesota Orchestra is tapped to perform during the halftime festivities.

The eight-minute show will reportedly pay tribute to the team’s history, their fan base, and also Minnesota’s own departed legend Prince.

It will also feature a light and video show staged in part by Michael Shann, whose credits include the closing ceremony for the XXII Winter Olympic Games.

Additionally, there will be a special “welcome home” video presentation at 7 p.m. narrated by former Vikings wide receiver Ahmad Rashad, as well as a debut of the new Vikings “Skol Chant.”

Kickoff for the game is at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Stay with WCCO all week as we continue to preview the historic match.
