Heading To The Vikings/Packers Game? Look Out For Fake Tickets

By Vikings – WCCO | CBS Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Minnesota Vikings play their regular season home opener at U.S. Bank Stadium this Sunday night, against their biggest rival in the Green Bay Packers.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in what will be an electric atmosphere at the new home for the Vikings. It’s an early-season game against a division rival with potential playoff implications for both teams down the road.

The game is sold out. If you don’t have tickets to that game, be careful about buying tickets from sellers, especially if you are in a dimly lit bar.

The Minneapolis Police Department is reminding sports fans on Monday to take extra precautions and read the fine print, or you could end up with a fake ticket. Police say if you’re buying a hard copy ticket, make sure it doesn’t wilt and bend at the perforation and check the foiling.

Police say it’s hard to make good foiling. And if you’re buying a PDF ticket, make sure there is a Vikings logo on it. It talks about the NFL bag policy, and it names U.S. Bank Stadium.

“A good seller is going to take care of his customer. A good seller, if you ask, they will walk you to the gate. A good seller will allow you to take a picture of them or take a picture of their ID or both,” Lt. Kim Lund with the Minneapolis Police Department said. “If they don’t, I wouldn’t buy a ticket from that person. I’d go to the next.”

Police say if you’re planning to sell your tickets on Craigslist, cover the bar codes and your name because they can be stolen.
