Bleacher Report – Vikings

All Eyes On Vikings QB Shaun Hill

By Vikings – WCCO | CBS Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Minnesota Vikings are trying to make a decision Friday about what quarterback to pursue.

They expect an aging veteran to get cut, or they could get proactive and make a trade.

But it is Shaun Hill’s team for now, and he is the man who needs to drive the bus.

Teddy Bridgewater is out, and that hurts, but seeing him in person helps.

“It was good to see [Bridgewater] today, good to see him smile, talk to him,” Hill said. “I could tell, I could get the feeling from him … he understands that he’s going to bounce back from this.”

Hill has been given the keys to the car, for now. And having a year in this system makes that easier.

“The more repetition you have in this stuff, the better you are. You understand why things are in the game plan on Wednesday instead of maybe on Sunday,” Hill said.

He has to make believers out of teammates that want to be believers. They have no choice but to rally.

“It’s a tough team, you know. Runs the ball well, stops the ball well,” said Vikings guard Alex Boone. “We’ve been taking steps as we go, and that’s the key to preseason is getting better every week. Now it’s time for the real deal.”

What Hill will have come game day is a group of receivers and a running back who has not played this preseason — named Adrian Peterson.

“We’ve got a lot of weapons and that’s nice to have as a quarterback, for sure,” Hill said.

They will need it, because while they miss Bridgewater, they do not want that injury to define a season.

“We’re there for Teddy, obviously, you know, feel for him. Great kid, great competitor,” said Vikings safety Harrison Smith. “So we’re going to go out and we’re going to play our type of game and, you know, not back down.”

The Vikings’ first regular-season game is Sunday, Sept. 11 against the Tennessee Titans.
