Cris Carter’s son, Duron, suspended one game by CFL after celebration led to ejection

By Andrew Krammer

Duron Carter has been suspended one game by the Canadian Football League three days after his erratic touchdown celebration led to two ejections, according to the Canadian Press.

Duron, the son of former Vikings receiver Cris Carter, made a third-quarter scoring grab for his Montreal Alouettes. After a jarring hit by the safety, Carter ran to the opponent’s bench, which is on the same side of the field as Montreal’s bench. As he walked by, he bumped into Ottawa head coach Rick Campbell, knocking him down.

Carter, 25, continued his celebration by taunting the sideline as some Ottawa players threw jabs before referees led him away. Ottawa defensive back Jerrell Gavins was also ejected. The Alouettes fined Carter after the game and he’s now suspended for the July 15 home game against Hamilton.

Afterward, Carter said he didn’t remember much of the play, only noting he had a cut from the hit levied to his shoulder pads and helmet, per the Canadian Press.

Carter (6-5, 205) has twice worked out for the Vikings, first during the 2013 rookie minicamp after going undrafted and again in 2015 before signing with the Indianapolis Colts. He was released after the preseason. Carter has 11 catches for 132 yards and a touchdown in two games for the Alouettes this summer.
