Ep. 134: On Teddy Bridgewater, Vikings position depth and the NFL’s technology split

By Andrew Krammer

On this episode of the Purple Podcast, Andrew Krammer, Judd Zulgad and ESPN.com’s Ben Goessling discuss quarterback Teddy Bridgewater entering his third NFL season.

Specifically, we delve into the role confidence is playing in his development. The coaching staff wants to see him seize more opportunities, while he’s figuring out where his role is exactly. Should he be given more freedom in the offense? At what point does it become his team?

Then we move to evaluating the team’s depth on both sides of the football. Zulgad looks at how far the cornerback position has come in just a couple years in Minnesota. He pegs that as the defense’s deepest spot, while both Krammer and Goessling break down the defensive line. What about offense?

Finally, there’s an interesting article in The Ringer about a ‘brewing war on information’ hitting the NFL, which includes some colorful quotes from Panthers coach Ron Rivera, who cautions a slippery slope with adding technological coaching aides to the sideline (such as video instant replay). Mike Zimmer said something recently that applies to this discussion.
