EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Mike Zimmer got another piece for his Vikings defense.
Cornerback Mackensie Alexander (5-10, 190) was taken with the 54th-overall selection as the Vikings’ second-round pick on Friday evening. Alexander, 22, played two seasons at Clemson after his redshirt freshman season in 2013. Named third-team All-American last fall. Compiled 12 pass deflections and no interceptions in 26 starts.
Alexander has experience playing both slot and outside. He joins cornerbacks Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, Captain Munnerlyn and Terence Newman.
