None of us had the Carolina Panthers in the playoffs when five months ago we settled on our NFL predictions for the 2015 regular season. In a nutshell, that’s about how well the 1500 ESPN online team of Judd Zulgad, Phil Mackey, Derek Wetmore and Andrew Krammer fared when all was said and done.

The closing of the Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl championship season puts the year to bed, so let’s take a look back at our predictions. This is to track public/media perception as much as it is to shame or congratulate us. Our Vikings’ record predictions went a bit smoother, conveying the Year 2 expectations for improvement under head coach Mike Zimmer. An 11-5 finish with a division title obviously surpassed the bar we set, with the most accurate preseason prediction coming from Mike Morris at 10-6.

None of us pegged the Vikings to win the NFC North, and we went a collective 0 for 8 on getting a single Super Bowl team right. Overall, we each managed to peg just two of eight division winners. There was a three-way tie with 7 of 12 playoff teams picked. Mackey’s trust in the Miami Dolphins contributed to his 6 of 12 finish.
