Bleacher Report – Vikings

Teddy Bridgewater and Anthony Barr get first Pro Bowl nods as subs

By Andrew Krammer

The Vikings will be sending five to the Pro Bowl this weekend.

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and linebacker Anthony Barr have been named as injury replacements to Sunday’s Pro Bowl in Honolulu. Bridgewater will replace Arizona’s Carson Palmer and Barr will fill in for New England’s Jamie Collins. They join safety Harrison Smith, defensive end Everson Griffen and running back Adrian Peterson, with Peterson the only one voted to the initial roster.

Bridgewater helped steer the Vikings toward 11 wins and a division title, becoming the fifth Pro Bowl replacement at quarterback with Palmer, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers and Cam Newton bowing out. Bridgewater led his fourth career game-winning drive in the Week 8 win at Chicago, finishing the season with 14 passing touchdowns to nine interceptions. Barr tied for third on the team with 68 combined tackles despite missing three games and playing through a broken hand in the second half of the season. He led the Vikings with three forced fumbles, including two in the Week 12 win at Atlanta.

Both were first-round selections by the Vikings in 2014.

The current Pro Bowl quarterbacks are Bridgewater, Tom Brady, Derek Carr, Tyrod Taylor and Eli Manning. Outside linebackers now include Barr, Elvis Dumervil, Tamba Hali, Sean Lee and Lavonte David.
