Vikings’ 2016 slate has them traveling east

By Andrew Krammer

The rotation will bring the Vikings east in 2016.

Opponents were locked up at the end of the regular season, so now let’s take a look as the Vikings’ offseason is in full swing. A year after going west to play games in San Francisco, Oakland and Arizona, they’ll spend less time traveling as they play the NFC East and AFC South divisions next season. Difficulty in the upcoming slate, with exact dates and times to be announced, ranges from the two teams playing in this weekend’s NFC Championship game between Carolina and Arizona, down to three teams that have a top-five draft pick this spring in Tennessee (No. 1), Dallas (No. 4) and Jacksonville (No. 5).

Uncommon road trips include just the Vikings’ second regular season game in Jacksonville since the Jaguars were founded in 1995, and the third-ever regular season trip to Tennessee since the Titans moved in 1998.

They’ll face two non-divisional opponents for a consecutive season in the Cardinals and Giants. And at least three of their upcoming games come against first-year head coaches in Philadelphia, New York and Tennessee.

Vikings’ home games: Arizona Cardinals (13-3), Houston Texans (9-7), Indianapolis Colts (8-8), New York Giants (6-10), Dallas Cowboys (4-12), Green Bay Packers (10-6), Detroit Lions (7-9) and Chicago Bears (6-10).

Vikings’ away games: Carolina Panthers (15-1), Washington Redskins (9-7), Philadelphia Eagles (7-9), Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11), Tennessee Titans (3-13), Packers, Lions and Bears.
