Adrian Peterson joins J.J. Watt as only unanimous AP All-Pro selections

By Andrew Krammer

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — For the fourth time in nine seasons, Adrian Peterson was named first-team All Pro by the Associated Press.

Peterson joins Houston Texans’ defensive end J.J. Watt as the only unanimous selections to the AP’s top All-Pro team. Peterson pairs the All-Pro honor with his third career rushing title as he led the league with 1,485 yards, becoming just the third running back in NFL history to lead the league in rushing at age 30 or older.

He’s not only the Vikings’ lone player on the All-Pro first team, but the NFC North’s lone representative. The Vikings (11-5) claimed their first division title in six years with a 20-13 win over the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau last weekend.

The Carolina Panthers led all franchises with six selections to the first team, including linebackers Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly as well as quarterback Cam Newton.

The Vikings’ Cordarrelle Patterson made second-team All Pro as a kick returner. Patterson led the NFL with a 31.8-yard return average and two returns for touchdowns.
