Adrian Peterson has 2015 rushing title in hand before kickoff vs. Green Bay

By Andrew Krammer

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Adrian Peterson didn’t need 16 games to outrun the NFL.

Peterson has his third career rushing title in hand before Sunday night’s kickoff in Green Bay. His lone challenger, Tampa Bay’s Doug Martin, failed to close the 64-yard gap, so barring a career-worst game for Peterson in Green Bay — he’s the 2015 rushing champ. To lose the rushing title, Peterson would have to finish with -16 yards to split and -17 yards to fall to second. However, Peterson has never finished a game with negative rushing yards.

He will be just the third running back in NFL history to lead the league in rushing at age 30 or older, and the first in over a decade. At age 31, Curtis Martin ran for 1,697 yards in 2004. Three career rushing titles ties Peterson with Houston Oilers’ great Earl Campbell (3).

Peterson has 1,418 yards rushing before kickoff in Green Bay.
