Linval Joseph to miss third straight game, inactive for Vikings vs. Bears

By Andrew Krammer

MINNEAPOLIS — The Vikings will once again be without a trio of defensive stars as they host the Chicago Bears on Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium.

Nose tackle Linval Joseph, who was questionable with a foot injury, is inactive and will not play. Joseph will miss his third straight game since injuring his foot in the Nov. 29 win at Atlanta. Defensive lineman Zach Moore, who was promoted from the practice squad on Saturday, is active. Tom Johnson and Sharrif Floyd will start along the interior.

Safety Harrison Smith and linebacker Anthony Barr will miss their second consecutive games after being ruled out on Friday. Both are dealing with nagging injuries. Smith’s knee/hamstring injury happened on Nov. 22 against Green Bay, while Barr is recovering from a groin injury suffered on Nov. 29 against the Falcons.

Vikings’ inactives: S Harrison Smith (knee/hamstring), NT Linval Joseph (foot), LB Anthony Barr (groin/hand), WR Charles Johnson (ankle), QB Taylor Heinicke, OL Jeremiah Sirles and C Nick Easton.

Bears’ inactives: ILB Christian Jones, WR Cameron Meredith, CB Bryce Callahan, OL Nick Becton, OL Tayo Fabuluje, CB Jacoby Glenn and RB Antone Smith.

The Bears will be starting undrafted rookie John Timu at inside linebacker for Jones.
