Vikings place DE Scott Crichton on injured reserve, promote DE Zach Moore

By Andrew Krammer

The Vikings placed defensive end Scott Crichton on injured reserve Saturday and promoted defensive end Zach Moore from the practice squad to take his place.

Crichton, 24, suffered a brain and neck injury in coverage on a return in the Vikings’ 23-20 loss in Arizona last week. He did not practice this week and will have his second NFL season end on injured reserve. The injury ends a disappointing second season for Crichton, who has not lived up to what the Vikings thought when taking him in the third round (72nd overall) in 2014. He started the season as a rotational player, but quickly lost most of his snaps to rookie Danielle Hunter. Active for eight games this season, Crichton totaled 10 combined tackles in 131 snaps on defense.

Moore, 25, has been promoted to the active roster, though he could be inactive on Sunday depending on the availability of defensive end Everson Griffen and nose tackle Linval Joseph. Both are listed questionable against the Bears. Moore is a Concordia-St. Paul product and was signed to the Vikings’ practice squad in September after he was released by the New England Patriots. He was a sixth-round pick (198th overall) by the Patriots in 2014.

Moore (6-6, 280) was active for eight games, with one start, in his rookie season with New England.
