Bleacher Report – Vikings

Vikings re-sign DE Justin Trattou and waive DB Shaun Prater

By Andrew Krammer

The Vikings may be getting healthier in the secondary.

Coach Mike Zimmer said Friday he received ‘a good report’ on the quad of injured defensive starters that were held out of Thursday night’s loss in Arizona, including safety Harrison Smith (knee/hamstring), safety Andrew Sendejo (knee), linebacker Anthony Barr (hand/groin) and nose tackle Linval Joseph (foot).

Sendejo is expected to return the quickest, per Zimmer, so on Tuesday they re-signed defensive end Justin Trattou and waived defensive back Shaun Prater, who was signed to provide some depth at safety just two days before the Vikings’ midweek loss at Arizona.

Trattou, 27, was let go last week to help make room for two safety additions in Prater, and Anthony Harris, who was promoted from the practice squad. Trattou (6-4, 258) rejoins the Vikings after initially making the active roster out of training camp. He was active for the first two games, intercepting a Matthew Stafford pass in Week 2 before a foot injury kept him sidelined for more than a month.

Players are scheduled to return to the practice field on Tuesday.
