Bleacher Report – Vikings

Linval Joseph not seen at Vikings practice again

By Andrew Krammer

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — When the Vikings broke individual drills and settled into team sessions as media were ushered out of the Winter Park Fieldhouse, they did so without three starters on defense.

Nose tackle Linval Joseph (foot), linebacker Anthony Barr (hand/groin) and safety Andrew Sendejo (knee) did not take part in the portion of Thursday’s practice open to media. Sendejo and Barr left after the team’s warm-up, while Joseph was not seen for the second consecutive day after a foot injury limited him in Sunday’s 20-10 win at Atlanta.

With Sendejo held back again, second-year safety Antone Exum Jr. was spotted taking the field with Smith at the start of team drills. Exum Jr. made his first career start last week for Smith, who has been held back by a knee sprain. Smith said he expects to know after Friday’s workout whether or not he can return on Sunday against Seattle, though his consecutive practices this week are a good sign for him.

Barr has played through a broken hand this month, and had a groin injury added to the official injury report this week. He was limited on Wednesday, and left the field after warm-ups on Thursday.

Without Joseph, the Vikings would be down to three defensive tackles again between Sharrif Floyd, Tom Johnson and Kenrick Ellis. They have two on the practice squad in B.J. Dubose and Zach Moore.
