Rookie linebacker Eric Kendricks had a big month.
Kendricks, 23, was named the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Month for October after posting 20 tackles and four sacks in three games, the most recent two games as a three-down linebacker after taking over for the traded Gerald Hodges in coach Mike Zimmer’s base defense. Kendricks opened the season as the Vikings’ passing-down linebacker with former UCLA teammate Anthony Barr.
Two of Kendricks’ four sacks this month came in Sunday’s win in Detroit.
