MINNEAPOLIS — Philip Rivers didn’t get up right away.
There was no visible blood, like the Vikings drew on Matthew Stafford’s jersey last week, but Rivers stayed on one knee for a few seconds after linebacker Anthony Barr lowered his shoulder pads and slammed into Rivers’ midsection as he released a pass to Malcom Floyd for a nine-yard gain.
Chargers coach Mike McCoy was forced to use his team’s first timeout of the second half so Rivers could catch his breath.
“I think that had a toll on him,” said coach Mike Zimmer.
