EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Linebacker Brandon Watts dropped some weight, but he’s delivering a bigger punch.
As a rookie, playing time was sparse for Watts as he dealt with knee and hamstring injuries that kept him out of practice during the regular season. Entering his second year, Watts leads all Vikings linebackers with 65 snaps through two preseason games. He’s ‘always a good athlete,’ coach Mike Zimmer said of the linebacker who ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at his pro day. Now, Zimmer has noticed his development as a more hard-nosed weak-side linebacker.
