It would be inaccurate to say that Mike Zimmer entered his first season as Vikings’ coach with any pressure on him, but that doesn’t mean there were no expectations.
While the national pundits were putting the Vikings on a second consecutive poor season, locally there was a feeling that this team could be decent.
The Vikings had questions on defense – the place where Zimmer’s expertise lies – but the offense appeared to have playmakers, provided veteran Matt Cassel could utilize them.
Three weeks into the season, Cassel and at least two of those playmakers are gone…
