Vikings Projected To Struggle By Vegas Odds-Makers

By Jeff Wald

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnestoa Vikings are projected to have a rough 2014-15 season, Mike Zimmer’s first as head coach, at least according to some Las Vegas odds-makers.

The experts at the Bovada sports book have put out some early odds on the NFL season, and they think the Vikings will have six wins or less this year. They established an early money line of -140 for those who take the over on six wins this season. That means you would have to bet $140 to win $100 to pick them to win more than six games.

The money line for the Vikings to win less than six games is currently +110, meaning if you bet $100 on them to win less than six games, you would win $110. In comparison, the Green Bay Packers are projected as even money to win more than 10 games, the Chicago Bears are at -150 to win nine games and the Detroit Lions are even money to win nine games.

The Minnesota Vikings, coming off a 5-10-1 season and the dismissal of Leslie Frazier, are also considered longshots in the NFC North by Bovada. The Vikings current odds to win the division are 12-1. The Green Bay Packers are favored to win the NFC North at 4/5, while the Chicago Bears have 11/4 odds and the Detroit Lions have 17/4 odds.

The season is a ways away as teams are doing their organized team activities this week and NFL training camps take place later this summer. But it’s at least an early look at some expectations at the football season ahead, and it certainly sounds like the Vikings should have low expectations, at least in the gambling world.
