Vikings Finalize Deals With Johnson, Evans

By Jonathon Sharp

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have re-signed left guard Charlie Johnson and nose tackle Fred Evans, making it six of their own unrestricted free agents they’ve brought back.

Johnson and Evans agreed to terms last week, but their contracts were finalized Wednesday. The Vikings started with 15 unrestricted free agents; running back Toby Gerhart and cornerback Chris Cook signed with other clubs.

Johnson will start his ninth year in the NFL, the fourth with the Vikings. He’s been a starter the whole time, including at left tackle his first season. He got a two-year deal.

Evans, entering his eighth NFL season, agreed to a one-year contract. He joined the Vikings in 2007, starting six of 94 games since then. Evans finished last season with the sixth-longest tenure on the team.
