Vikings will have money to spend today if they want to go shopping

Even after spending to retain Everson Griffen and Matt Cassel, the Vikings will have some money to spend. That’s thanks to the increasing salary cap across the NFL and big contracts, like Jared Allen’s, coming off the books.

The Vikings currently have $38.6 million in cap space, according to ESPN.com’s Ben Goessling, who does a good job of tracking. That number will be lower once Cassel’s and Griffen’s contracts officially are recorded.
